WHAT DOES A DENTAL ASSISTANT DO
Dental assistants, are the backbone to any successful dental practice. They may have different duties and responsibilities within a dentist’s office based on the different styles of each dental clinic. However, the core focus of their work is always on patient care, often preparing patients for examinations and procedures or working alongside the dentist when examining and treating patients.

A well trained dental assistant will always be thinking a step ahead of the dentist and knows when to pass which instrument to allow the dentist to work to their best ability. They help set up the room before the patient arrives. They greet the patient and make them feel comfortable in the dental office and often explain what is going to happen in the appointment.

They can give oral hygiene instructions, post operative instructions and how to use a whitening system.

Dental and periodontal charting
All laboratory procedures
Pouring of dental impressions
How to make whitening trays
Assisting in the surgery
